This new chapter of my life is called: new beginnings. I said my goodbyes and had my last day at work. It was a bittersweet feeling to leave behind kids I’ve formed a bond with and to say goodbye to a job field that I’ve been a part of for 6 years. But I am confident that I made the right decision.
Now I’m taking advantage of all this free time to explore my interests in order to get clarity on what I want to pursue in life. I’m dedicating myself to this blog and also looking into learning other skills that can help me with my online presence. I’ve decided I want to take classes to gain important skills and also explore if I am actually interested in some things.
After my birthday I’ll get more serious about finding a job, but I’m also not worried because I really trust that a job that aligns with my desires will come my way. I have my moments where I worry but I trust myself and know I’m more than capable of finding a job.
this post is all on new beginnings and embracing the unknown.
Getting past the fear of the unknown.
It’s a little liberating to have this much uncertainty on where my life is going career wise. At first, it was humbling, scary and stressful.
Here are some things I did that helped me overcome the moments of stress.
- Let it out. Vent to a friend. Write it out.
- It helped to get some words of support from a loved one. It’s so easy to keep anxious thoughts when you have no one debunking them. I see it as having those thoughts cycling in your head. They might go away but they come back. Once you let them out, it’s easier to shut them down.
- Shift your perspective.
- Go from seeing this situation as a “setback” to an open door for more experiences and opportunities. The fact that you are realizing what isn’t for you is a step closer. Even if it doesn’t feel like it.
- Remain open & evaluate your interests
- Don’t knock down any career opportunities or options. See any of your interests or hobbies as a potential career path. What are you good at? What comes natural to you? Your strengths can be very valuable in certain careers. If you can’t answer those questions, then this is the time to learn more about yourself.
- Take Action & Be *Patient*
- This one is hard but one of the most important. It can be discouraging when it seems like your efforts aren’t being rewarded. It can feel like there’s no point in trying, but keep being patient! I can say I’m still dealing with this myself but I choose to be optimistic and believe opportunities are on their way to me. If you’re taking action, no matter how small then you will be rewarded. Something has to come up from your consistency. I believe that God will see my determination and dedication and reward me when he feels I am ready. Whatever higher power you believe in, trust in them. Trust that they have your back. Do not lose faith. If you feel like things aren’t working out no matter what you do, then maybe take a step back and change a few things.
- You have time. Stop rushing and trying to force yourself to find your passion.
- I’m guilty of going online and trying to research all these career options and career tests. They can be helpful but doing extra research and always trying to make a decision can just be a waste of time and add more stress. It can do more harm than good to intake all this information.
- It takes time to get into hobbies, learn skills, and learn yourself. Once you know yourself better you can get closer to knowing what you want to do for a living.
Appreciate your journey
If you’re totally changing your career path like me, don’t see the past years as a waste of time. All of your experiences have led you to this point and will lead you to where you are meant to be. There is always something to learn from any job you’ve had. I know that my most recent job wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do after college but I don’t regret it. I learned a lot about myself and how it is to work with older children. It was a special experience and I’ll never forget them. Whatever job you had/have, even if you hate it, try to find one thing you’ve learned.
Say goodbye to the old you.
It’s crazy to know that so much change is on the way to me. I’m embracing it and allowing for a new era of my life to begin. I am very grateful for the years I’ve spent working with and helping children. It’s an experience I’m glad I’ve had and to know that I’ve helped at least one child fulfills me.
Evaluate habits and self-limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Self-limiting beliefs could be, “It’s too late for me.”, “I’m not good at ____.”, “ I could never go and do that by myself.”. Habits could be little actions that are getting in the way of you being more productive, healthy, and disciplined. You don’t have to become this robot that’s always productive, but start making little changes that over time will bring great benefits. It may work better for you to progressively cut down on bad habits until you completely cut it out of your life.
In order to create some change you must let go of the vision of yourself you used to have. You have changed (which is a good thing), so remind yourself that it’s expected for your goals and expectations to be different. It can be difficult when you’ve envisioned your life differently than it is now. That’s a harsh truth of life, your plans will change. It’s impossible to accurately predict how your life will pan out.
The world is yours. New beginnings are full of the unknown but also full with many possibilities and unexpected experiences.
this post was all about entering a phase of new beginnings.
Thank you for your time. If you’re in the same boat as me, remain open and excited. Have a great day/night <3
